20 November 2019 classroom Start
12 December 2019 is the School Event
Esperero participates in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Beginning November 20th in all English Language Arts (ELA) Classrooms, the students will begin. If your children are interested in participating, the word list and study guide is available from the ELA teacher or at the front office.
The top spellers from every grade will be invited to the December 12th Spelling Bee.
The winner from the School Bee will move on to the Catalina Foothills District Spelling Bee. The winner from the District will then participate in the Pima County Spelling Bee. The next levels are State and then the National Championships in Washington DC, which are televised nationwide.
The Rules and the Study words have been posted on our Minutes & Files Page so that students can begin to prepare. In the past, Scripps listed the word lists by grade level. This year, they have opted for a Level One, Level Two & Level Three. By their definitions, the Level One & Two lists are elementary. The Classroom and School Spelling Bees will always start with easier words and then work up to the difficult ones. It is advised that students study all three lists.
